Enabling ONVIF on an AXIS camera

Axis + Onvif

By default, ONVIF is enabled on the AXIS cameras . However, if you are unable to access it via the ONVIF protocol, you may need to perform an additionnal configuration step: add a new ONVIF user.

AXIS cameras use 2 different lists of user accounts: 1 for the regular users and 1 for the ONVIF users. So you must make sure you have set up an ONVIF user account in the camera, otherwise you will not be able to access the camera with the ONVIF protocol.

Adding a new ONVIF user account is simple. Connect to the camera from your browser, go to the configuration page and find the ONVIF configuration, as below:

If the list of user accounts is empty, or if you want to add a new user, click on the  Add… button  :

Enter a new username and password, select user rights and click OK . You should now be able to access your AXIS camera with ONVIF, using this new user account.
